Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar Review

Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar Review

By Supriya

Hello ladies,
Ok, those of you have dry, rough hair raise your hands? And now those who are suffering from hair fall and hair thinning, raise your hands? Ahh... I know many hands will be raised. All hair problems in one, and you can take the perfect example of my hair. Dry, thin, dull and breakage. Consulted dermats, hair specialists, ayurvedic doctors, gobbled down medicines like food for months and applied all the tinctures and connotations, but the hair quality won't budge to improve.
I was so irritated and bugged up with comments from relatives about the deteriorating quality of my hair and the hair thinning that showed up my scalp from a distance. In desperate need of some quick fix, I started searching the internet, found many waste as well as useful tips. In my quest, I came to know the harmful chemicals in our shampoos and conditioners that lead to hair fall and hair thinning and came across some organic brands for my hair.
I know you are bored to death by my story and to quickly come to the point, today I am going to review one miracle of a product for hair, which I discovered (!) in my search – Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar. Soulflower shampoo bars remind me of those old shikakai bars that my grandmother (maternal) used to use on her hair. She had a thick long mane. After doing some research, I bought two soap bars from Soulflower.

Product Description:
All those with dry, flyaway, scanty hair, throw out your hats.Dry hair looks dull, tangles easily & can become easily split at the ends. You need essential oils that stimulate the sebaceous glands in the scalp to produce more oil. Sandalwood & Geranium do that & more! They also work as an antidepressant on the emotional level, soothing anxiety & stress. Jojoba & almond oils nourish hair & it will regain its elasticity, leaving it soft, shiny & with far more body. Formulated to gently clean your hair as well has hands, face & body -- especially convenient when traveling. They're safe for chemical treated, coloured, children’s hair.

Price: Rs. 250/- for 150gm

Key Ingredients:
Geranium & sandalwood essential oils, jojoba oil, almond oil, shikaki, aloevera, Vitamin E, glycerin & aqua, permitted edible color & aroma, saponified oils of olive, coconut, castor, palm & palm kernel.

Ingredient Benefits:
1. Sandalwood deep relaxes, has astringent, anti-inflammatory & antiseptic properties. Soothes a dry & irritated scalp.
2. Geranium essential oil calms & relaxes, prevents hair loss, helps to restore oil balance in the hair glands Jojoba oil..
3. Jojoba oil helps keep the hair moisturized so that it doesn’t break and can retain length.
4. Almond oil provides deep nourishment & moisture for dry locks, adds shine to dull hair, makes hair stronger & controls hair loss.
5. Aloevera gel has anti-inflammatory properties that keep your hair strong & healthy, stops hair fall. Makes hair shiny & healthy.
6. Shikakai (means fruit for hair) is a natural gentle conditioning agent for hair & scalp. Effective in combating dandruff & extremely gentle, working to not overly strip hair of its natural oils.

Usage Directions: Use Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar for normal to dry hair. Rub the bar between your hands & apply the lather to your hair or rub the bar directly on your hair. Work the lather through & rinse as usual.

My Experience with Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar:

To put in very plain and simple... I love it. The shampoo bar has come as a savior for me. It cleanses well, the oils keep my hair from drying too much and about hair fall... it has drastically reduced. I am floored by this 100% vegan shampoo. The bar is red in color; though don't confuse it for emitting any rose aroma. I am completely flattered by the exotic natural ingredients of the soap. It’s very easy to apply. All you have to do is, rub the soap directly on your scalp or you can even lather it on your palms and apply. Doesn't tangle hair and leaves the hair with good volume. Also my hair fall has reduced. The soap lathers very well and I have generally not felt the usage of double application unless I have oiled my hair pre-wash.

The bar claims to be safe for chemically treated hair, colored, children's hair. This is free from all the chemicals namely SLS, SLES, parabens etc. I now very carefully read ingredient list before buying any product for my hair.

Since the bar is huge, I cut it into three pieces (recommended) for ease of use and to avoid wastage of product. I have completed using the bar and it lasted me for good three months with twice a week application.

Pros of Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar:

  • Aroma of the shampoo bar
  • Lathers and cleans very well
  • Does not require much quantity, even for oiled hair
  • Will last easily for a long time
  • The exotic list of ingredients
  • Free from SLS/SLES and parabens

Cons of Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar:

  • Could not find any but only if they could lower their prices a bit, I would buy this in bulk! (hehe)

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 4.75/5 (-0.25 for the price, though not an issue with me!)

My Recommendation: Go grab it girls :)

Would I Repurchase Soulflower Sandalwood Geranium Shampoo Bar?: I will be buying this as long as the company keeps making it. I love and love this shampoo bar!

My Experience with Soulflower My Sweet Skin Soap

Packaging: This soap comes in no fancy carton or something but it is packed in a clear transparent cover with the ingredient names and images printed over it. The packaging looks natural and gives that natural product feel :)

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: This is a peach colored, plain rectangular bar shaped soap which is hard and huge. I have cut this soap into 2 pieces to prevent quick melting and also for easy handling. The texture of this soap is smooth and there are no granules present in the soap. The fragrance can be said bold, spicy and natural. I did not find any artificial hint in the fragrance however sensitive noses might not like it much. This is not a problem for me though as it doesn't linger after bath.

Soulflower soap price, Soulflower soaps

How it works: This Soulflower My Sweet Skin soap just works perfectly on my normal skin. It lathers creamy and washes out in a second with a single splash of water. It doesn't leave any slippery feel behind on my skin even though being smooth and creamy on application. My skin is left smooth and squeaky clean after using this soap. I don't even want a loofah to exfoliate my skin as this one just cleared out all the impurities, dirt and sweat. The spiced bold fragrance prevented sweat for a long time and overall, I love this soap and would repurchase it ever for my normal skin. Even though being formulated for normal skin types, this soap did not leave my skin dry or greasy. My skin felt just smooth and clean! The only problem with this soap is that you should store in a dry place or else it will get creamy and melt soon. It claims to contain kesar for the improvement of skin texture but I cannot comment on that part much as I have just started using it. Anyhow, it made my skin texture smooth comparatively hence I guess this would improve my skin tone and texture well if used regularly. I don't mind the price for the quantity and worth of this soap. If you have normal skin type and you love bold spicy, natural fragrances, grab this soap quickly! My skin really feels SWEET and clean after using it :)

Pros of Soulflower My Sweet Skin Soap

  • Made of all natural ingredients
  • Cleanses skin very effectively
  • Produces creamy lather and washes off quickly
  • There is no slippery feel left behind; skin feels squeaky clean
  • Removes sweat odour and prevents sweat for a long time
  • Some will like its bold spiced fragrance which is more on the natural side
  • Improves skin texture with regular usage
  • Doesn't leave skin stretchy or greasy
  • A perfect soap for normal skin types as per the claim!
  • The quantity is reasonable for the price
  • Does not irritate skin or cause any side effects
  • 100% vegetarian soap; they don't even add milk and honey to their products.
  • Easily available online.

Cons of Soulflower My Sweet Skin Soap

  • I have no big con to mention about such a good product but the only thing I felt is that, the bold spiced fragrance might not impress the sensitive-nosed beauties out there.

Makeup and Beauty Home: 4/5

Recommendation: Do you have a normal skin type? Do you want your bathing bars to be natural smelling and gentle on your skin? Do you want that squeaky clean effect with less water and time? Go ahead and pick this soap! It is my current holy grail bathing soap.

Would I Repurchase?: Yes sure! I love My Sweet Skin from Soulflower a lot :) Babble will be receiving the 'Oil Be Gone' soap soon! Keep checking. To view all the 4 newly launched Soulflower soaps for different skin types, go HERE

My First Impression on Soulflower My Sweet Skin
This soap is specially formulated for normal skinned people and hence I am definitely going to use it :) I am going to be the one who reviewing it here soon. I haven't yet used this soap yet but the soap looks so natural. It is hard compared to the other 2 soaps (Don't include oil be gone; it's equally hard too) and has a light beige colour. The ingredients almond, apricot, lemon, rosemary are very good for our skin! And Kesar! I need Kesar for my skin now to even out the summer tan :D My detailed review on My Sweet Skin is coming up very soon! I wish this soap would make my skin really sweet :P

My First Impression on Soulflower Oil Be Gone
Though I have oily-combo skin in humid climatic conditions I have that little fobia of using oily skin products. I doubt whether they would strip off excess moisture from my skin but I don't mind giving this soap a try because it promises to moisturize the skin with grapefruit and grapeseed oils :) But still, I am not using it till next summer. Let Babble use and review this. She has the most oiliest skin is the world lol :D Otherwise, the ingredients are tempting and promising. I believe that this soap wouldn't leave your skin any extra dry even it does its oil clearing job well. Umm let's see. And I forgot to say, Oil Be Gone is light Peach in colour :) I guess that these two, the My Sweet Skin & Oil Be Gone would last long than the other 2 soaps as they are hard compared to them.

My First Impression on Soulflower Feels Like Silk
Check the name 'Feels Likes Silk' ! I was about to pick this in my hand instead of My Sweet Skin at the first :) Both are cute names but who wouldn't love their skin to be like silk? This soap is specially formulated for people with dry skin hence I believe this would be a huge hit for dry skins in upcoming winter. My mom has dry skin and may be I will ask her to use and review it. I am very much curious to try out this soap but I don't think this would suit my facial skin as I have an oily T-Zone but still I will definely pick one for me atleast for the name 'Feel Like Silk' and use it on my body :) This is a moderately-soft (If I press it out from the cover, I can see my finger prints on the soap) jaggery coloured soap and I am not sure about the fragrance of any of these 4 soaps as they aren't opened yet. To know more about them, all you should do is wait for the reviews :)

Soulflower Calm My Skin Soap (For Sensitive Skin)

Product Description:
Protect, soothe and maintain extremely sensitive skin with this soap, made using only the cleanest natural ingredients. Specially designed with gentle moisturizers like almond, avocado & jojoba oils known to calm flare-ups of visible redness & irritation. Cocoa butter is known to reduce skin blotches, scars & stretch marks and makes out soap so creamy you will just love it! Its time to pamper your skin, keep it hydrated and looking beautifully healthy.

My First Impression on Soulflower Calm My Skin
This soap is for you if you  have extra-sensitive skin type. The ingredient list is compact and we can find all natural ingredients present here. I guess this would smell great and give a luxurious bathing experience due to the presence of Cocoa butter :) If you have sensitive skin, pick this without any second thought. This soap is very light cream in colour and is soft like the Feel Like Silk soap.

My Overall Views About these New Soulflower Soaps:

  • The launch of these 4 soaps would help many people out there who are confused about choosing a bathing bar for their skin type. Oil, normal, dry or sensitive, you can find your perfect match here :)
  • These soaps are made of natural vegetable oils and essential oils; and they are 100% Vegetarian soap. They don't even use honey or milk to prepare it! That's pretty unique right?
  • Rs.250 for a soap? Hmm do you actually mind? But no, not me! These soaps are big, bar sized and made of all natural ingredients hence I don't mind spending 250 bucks on a good bathing soap. 150g is a good quantity for a soap too. I am planning to cut it into 2 or 4 and use it. This would prevent quick melting of the soap.

So girls, are you impressed of these newly launched Soulflower soap? Which soap review do you want us to put on here first? and What is your skin type? Do share in the comment section below. I am all ears! :)
