Outfit Post: Am wearing Oxblood :D (and a hair cut update!)

Hola chicas! :D The past weekend was one of the best I have had in a long time :) Why? Am not so sure but I have a strong inkling that it was because of the fact that it was a perfect blend of shopping, updating my fashion quotient, learning to cook a new dish, Diwali cleaning, meeting close friends and getting a makeover :) I'll go about each one in detail...

Lemme start with some retail healing. I absolutely abhor the phrase "retail therapy" as it has become too jaded and over-used. So much so that people going for grocery shopping also label the experience as retail therapy! No offense here but seriously any shopping or "buying" experience cannot be termed as retail therapy you know! Come on look it up... HINT: If you are always retail therapy-ing then you are a patient of chronic depression! And we know that at least us in the beauty blogging world are not depressed :)
So anyways, I actually went to the mall to exchange shirt for the Pati and well I returned without 1/4 of my salary :P Picked up a couple of tops from Promod and Zara and a few accessories from Accessorize :D While browsing through the racks at Zara, I came across a few Oxblood pieces, mostly in leather. Does Oxblood leather look HOT or what! But with almost negligible winters in Pune, buying a 5K worth of Oxblood Leather vest doesn't really makes sense now... So I checked out a few Oxblood pieces in materials other that leather but nothing really was flattering. I mean I really thought Oxblood isn't really the color for me :( Then I remembered having a Top in Oxblood that I had got myself a long time ago! he he he and I so wore it to office today ;)

There at the mall I met with some old and very close friends, shared a cup of coffee with them, chatted, gossiped and returned home all invigorated... I know I know I should have clicked a few outfit pics but alas I was running short of time (as usual) :P

But the major highlight of the weekend was my hair makeover :D By now you all must have guessed that I have gotten my hair straightened/rebonded but I also went a step ahead and got myself some front fringes to accentuate my mongloid features :) My main motive to do so? Well you see the pati loves the fact that I have ch*nki (no I did not use the word, rather masked it with an *) blood in me and totally digs it when I look more the part :P
So well here's how it looks on me... Ta da...

Now coming back to the main point of the post... The Outfit!!! Here is what I am wearing to office today :)

Outfit Post: Karwachauth 2012 :)

Oh yeah baby, I kept the Mother-Of-All-Fasts yesterday and emerged triumphant ;) All of you by now probably know that I am half Manipuri and half bengali but married to a Punjabi... So even though culturally Karwachauth is an alien concept for me from my parents' side, this is a major occasion on my in-laws side. However, parents both mine and his insisted I not keep the fast, I still did... Why? Well, I did have a couple of reasons but the main one apart from a full day of dieting was that I thought I should don the pati vrata mode in full regalia at least once a year ;) 

For those of you who don't under about Karwachauth, it is a custom followed by Hindu women in Northern and Western India, where they fast from daybreak to after sunset without even a sip of water. They finally break their fast after viewing the moon through a sieve. Now Bollywood movies have glorified and dramatized Karwachauth especially the Karan Johar and Yash Chopra productions, so much so that it has now become almost like a major festival that is celebrated with a lot of vigor and pomp :)

So anyways, I fasted and as custom goes, since am still a new bride, I dressed in my fineries and almost succeeded in looking like a bahu out of a saas-bahu serial :D Nope am not complaining cause though the look was completely opposite of what I am in real life, I enjoyed trying out something new for a change ;)

Do you celebrate Karwachauth?

Outfit Post: Subho Bijoya At Office

Subho Bijoya... Happy Dussehra :) Even though yesterday was this much celebrated festival of India, we did not have a holiday in office and to top it of, yesterday was the busiest day of my life! :( In order to keep us cheered up, our office people decided to declare the day as Traditional Day and well yup we were expected to dress up in our traditional best and come to work! ha ha ha.. I love the irony!

So anyways, I chose one of my favorite suits, which I guess I have already featured here on ISLM :) Its a raw silk green kurta with silk threaded embroidery and maroon churidaar and dupatta to go... Its a simple yet elegant suit and I love it for that :)

Outfit Post: A Day Out with Mamma to the First Indian Starbucks

By now everyone knows that Starbucks has finally entered India in alliance with Tata and their flagship store has been set shop in South Mumbai at the Hornimun Circle Area... So this weekend when I went to Mumbai, I knew I had to go brunching with my mom to Starbucks and yay what an experience :) Now of course everyone says that Starbucks is one of the most overrated coffee shops in the world and all that jazz but really I am having a 60 seconds of fame thing going on and plus come on Starbucks is finally in India, is something I really think we as Indians should celebrate :) Foreign investors coming to our country to earn money is like a big deal people!
Isn't it awesome to see the Starbucks sign in Hindi/Marathi? ;)

It's been a while I have left school (understatement of the year but whatever!) and well I am guilty of not being in touch with most of my school mates over all these years... They have been catching up and meeting up but somehow I could never get the time or the situation was just not right. So finally this weekend when I went to Bombay, I decided to pester my school friends who live in Bombay to finally meet with me. We met up at this awesome place called "Big Nasty" in Bandra and conversation just flowed :) It was great getting back home super high and then acting as if everything was normal in front of my mom! LOL :D

What To Wear: For A Stroll In The Club Golf Course By The Sea

I love where I stay in Bombay... I stay in Colaba in South Bombay and there is no place else in the country that can match to it... Sandwiched between the Arabian Sea on one side and the best street shopping market in the city i.e. Colaba Causeway on the other, rich with heritage buildings and monuments and even cobbled stone streets in some stretches, "old town" i.e Colaba is sure a part of paradise :) *Touchwood*...

The last weekend that I was in Bombay, we had a Mumbai Bloggers Meet on Saturday, which by now am sure you all know about... So I kept Sunday for my mom solely and we spent the whole day in leisure almost like we were having a best friends' day out :) Around 4:00 pm in the afternoon, my mom started craving some chaat and we decided to go to the US Club where we could stroll along the sea and also satiate our yearning for some chatpat stuff :)

Mumbai Bloggers Meet: Outfit, Pictures, Chatter...

Oh yes, by now everyone knows about the blogger's meet we had in Mumbai last Saturday :) And even though most of the pictures have been posted on FB and Twitter, I will still go on with tradition and document the event as a post on ISLM :) What say?

This meet was initiated by Beena that was closely kept on track by Heer... The reason for the meet? Beena is on a vacation in Mumbai from the US and Jinal is also in Mumbai for a fortnight from Delhi, and the rest of us i.e. Heer, Preetha, Neha and I grabbed the opportunity to meet up when Beena initiated it :) I was meeting Beena after almost 6 years, last was when we were in college and as they say we simply picked up from where we had left... That's friendship isn't it :)

This time we all met up in South Bombay and went for lunch to Bombay Blues in Kala Ghoda... Ha ha it was FUN for sure... We had lunch for more than 3 hours and the servers there were quite irritated with us for sure :P They would keep coming for taking orders and we would just get so engrossed in our conversations that we would forget to place out orders... hahahahha.. and when 6 girls meet up, there is utter confusion trust me! And you know what the best part of it all was? We were all so comfortable with each other, no awkward silences, no having to think what to say next... Ooooh it was Amazing! :D I love you girls soooo much! And I am soo glad you are all my friends :)

I have no idea why I couldn't stop laughing... Btw will someone look at that gorgeous necklace Jinal's wearing!!!

Oh you know the best part, Beena got us all Maybelline Color Tattoos... he he he :D Best part? There's no difference between the Amreeki counterpart and the Indian counterpart... Quality wise - same, conatiner wise - same... Just that we Indians get a complimentary brush too ;)

After lunch, we did a bit fo shopping from Westside, Health and Glow and well obviously Colaba Causeway, where I picked up the first statement necklace of my life all thanks to Bina and especially Jinal! She just wouldn't hear a no and almost cornered me into buying one ;) Ha ha... But I am so thankful to her cause the moment I reached home, wore it and saw myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but start grinning like a maniac about how cool it looked ;)

Superb evening it was and I hope we keep meeting up like this often :)
