Scrubs always attract me, owing to the fact that scrubs polish the skin. I picked this product with the attraction towards the scrub that is visible through its package tube.

Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Strawberry & Aloe Vera Exfoliating Face Wash Review

Price and Quantity: Rs.125 for 80g

Usage Directions: Massage over wet skin concentrating on rough spots like nose tip, forehead, etc. Wash off. Follow with Lotus Herbals ALPHAMOIST for best results.

Shelf Life: 3 years.

My Experience with Lotus Herbals Berryscrub:

Packaging: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub comes in a soft press able plastic tube which is partially see-through. The tube has a flip cap with a hole for the product to run out. The details about the product and brand are printed on the top side of the tube body with an attractive shiny finish.

Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Strawberry & Aloe Vera Exfoliating Face Wash Review

Colour, Consistency & Fragrance: The color of the scrub product is transparent base with brown-orange mixed type of scrubbing particles. The base is like a gel.
The consistency is very thin and runny. You tilt the tube, all the product inside the tube runs from one side to another. Though the base looks like a gel, it is very watery.

Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Strawberry & Aloe Vera Exfoliating Face Wash Review

The fragrance of the product is somewhere in between mild to strong. The name of the scrub says Strawberry and Aloe vera, forget aloe vera, there is no smell of strawberry too on my smelling senses. There is some amount of sour fruity scent indicating the lemon and orange extracts being present.

How it works: Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash lathers minimum. The scrub granules are of mixed shape and sharpness. There are some which are a little big than needed for face scrubbing and they are sharp too. These scrub the face a little more that needed. The package says All Skin Types; definitely no, the scrub is a little harsh on the dry skin. Also it is not suitable during winter for removing the dead skin flakes. This is a good product for oily skin. My skin felt more dry and stretchy after washing with this product.

But, I have found another way of using this product, as a body scrub. This gives a very good massaging sensation when rubbed on the body. You can skip your usual body wash the day you introduce this Lotus scrub. It scrubs and washes too very well. The much needed scrubbing for heels, elbow, knee joint, and back of the neck is done by Lotus Herbals Berryscrub Face Wash.

PROS of Lotus Herbals Berryscrub:

  • Easy handling tube package with flip cap.
  • See though tube.
  • Mixed type of scrub.
  • Gel based.
  • Available at good price.
  • Makes a very good body scrub.
  • Removes dead cells and leaves the skin soft when used as a body scrub.

CONS of Lotus Herbals Berryscrub:

  • Not a good face scrub.
  • There are some harsh scrub particles which are not suitable for face scrubbing.
  • Suitable for oily skin, not good for dry skin.

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 3/5

Do I Recommend Lotus Herbals Berryscrub?: Yes. Though not a perfect face scrub, it is a perfect body scrub.

Would I Repurchase Lotus Herbals Berryscrub?: Yes. I am on my third tube.

Have you tried the Lotus Herbals Berryscrub? How does it work on you?

Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub Review

Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub Review

Guest Post by Barisha

Hello darlingzzz :D

Last year Lotus herbals launched their skin care range called “Lotus white glow range”

Face wash, scrub, cream, emulsion, serum and mask are part of this series. Somehow I really don’t like skin whitening products because most of them are drying in nature. Once I used Olay cream and it broke me out crazily :( but still the packaging, reviews on many blogs attracted me a lot and I have to try something from this range :p so I picked this white glow scrub and here is my experience and detailed review on it.

Product description:
WHITEGLOW Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub exfoliates the skin gently, removes dirt, impurities, whiteheads and blackheads leaving your skin brighter and healthier with a shining glow. The gentle exfoliating action works on skin discoloration, dull and uneven skin tones and softens the skin giving you a firmer skin texture. Oatmeal exfoliates gently, restores the natural moisture balance of skin and yogurt moisturizes and lightens the skin reducing imperfections giving you silky, smooth and brighter skin.

Key Ingredients: Oatmeal and milk yogurt

Usage Directions: Gently apply the scrub on moistened skin with brisk circular movement on the face and neck. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Use twice a week for brighter skin. Follow with yogurt radiance mask for best results.

Price and Quantity:145 for 100gm

Shelf life: 36 months

My Experience with Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub:

Packaging: The product comes in a pretty white tube with a metallic cap but this tube is not at all travel friendly as the cap is loose and the tube tends to break easily in case if it fell down.

Colour, Consistency and Fragrance: This scrub is creamy white in colour and thick in consistency. It has a very artificial smell which is very disturbing for my sensitive nose.

How it works:
I have a love and hate relationship with Lotus Herbals. Some of their products (Berry Berry scrub and 4-1 sunscreen)suits me well but some make my skin dry (there face packs including fruit pack which is meant for dry skin). Okay let me concentrate on this product. I didn't have a good experience with this product. This scrub just adds a lil glow to my skin after application which lasts hardly for 10 minutes. I am using this scrub regularly twice a week for more than two months to see the effect but to be frank it does nothing to my skin. I did not expect any whitening and brightening results from this scrub because I know nothing can change our original skin color apart from some heavy bleach like kojic acid and hydroquinone. It did not help me in removing acne scars, black heads and white heads. Wanna know more? It is harsh on my sensitive skin! :( but the only good thing about the product is it does not dry our my skin or broke me out. Overall, this is an average-good scrub for normal-dry skin types. If you're skin is skin is extra sensitive, then do not go for this.

Pros of Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub:

  • Affordable
  • Available easily
  • Its not drying; hence dry skins will love it
  • Does the exfoliation part well
  • Adds a little glow to the face after usage
    Does not break me out
  • Works good as a foot scrub :p

I am really sorry I cant think of any other pros :(

Cons of Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Oatmeal & Yogurt Skin Whitening Scrub:

  • It claims too many things but delivers nothing
  • It’s not at all a gentle product for sensitive skin types.
  • Smell bad and artificial.
  • Tube breaks easily and not travel friendly
  • Contains a big list of chemicals.
  •  Pareben is present. How could Lotus herbals says it’s a herbal product? :O

Makeup and Beauty Home Rating: 2/5 (Because it is working well as a foot scrub :p)

Recommendation: If you have sensitive nose cum sensitive skin then please don’t waste your money on this product.:( However  normal-dry skinned people may find this scrub good on their skin because it isn't drying and moreover, it doesn't break out skin.

Prakriti Herbals Walnut WheatGerm AloeVera Exfoliating Scrub Review

Prakriti Herbals Walnut WheatGerm AloeVera Exfoliating Scrub

Every tired weekend and on the days when I experiment with different makeup products, facial scrub is one product which is a must for me. Now, I am going to review a natural scrub from the brand Prakriti Herbals. I have already reviewed their skin gel which is one of my favorite moisturizer. Let us move on to the review of the scrub now.

Product Description:
A gentle scrub which exfoliates dead cells, blackheads while nourishing the skin, giving you a fresh glowing complexion.

Price & Quantity:
Rs.120 for 60ml

Usage Directions:
Moisten face and neck, massage with scrub in a gentle circular motion, avoiding the eyes. Rinse off and pat dry gently.

Natural Pampering Ingredients:
Walnut shell granules, Wheatgerm oil, Aloevera juice, Glycerine, Lotion base, Food Grade Preservatives, Perfume, Purified water.

My Experience with this Product:

Packaging: This product comes in a simple, see through plastic tube with a flip type cap. You can also screw open it. The packaging is sturdy, easy to use and travel friendly; no complaints.

Colour Consistency & Fragrance: This is a cream based light beige coloured scrub with dark brown walnut granules in it. I am totally impressed with the colour and consistency of this scrub. The fragrance is neither floral nor fruity but a mild scented one which would not irritate sensitive noses. I prefer my skincare products to be sweet scented and expected the same from this one, but then it is okay for the price.

How it works:
This walnut scrub spreads smoothly over my facial skin as it is cream based. The granules are not harsh but little on the harder side than some other milder scrubs. After all, it is a scrub and it should do its exfoliating job well, Right? The scrub exfoliates my skin well when I worked on with circular motions in a gentle manner. After 2 minutes of scrubbing, I splashed some cold water over my face and voila! Though being cream based, this scrub gets washed off very quickly with a single splash without leaving any slippery feel behind.
As claimed, this scrub nourishes, remove dead skin cells and blackheads (Up to a good extent but I have a little doubt about how it would work on stubborn big black heads) in a good manner. Surprisingly this scrub doesn't leave my skin dry at all. Being normal-oily skinned, I skipped my moisturizer after using this scrub but if you are on normal-dry and dry skin type side, moisturizer is a must. Overall, this is a good scrub which works effectively in removing impurities, leftover makeup residues and mild blackheads from the skin.

PROS
  • Comes in a handy, mess-free and travel friendly packaging.
  • This scrub does the exfoliating job really well
  • Clears out impurities, dirt and mild blackheads
  • Washes out quickly without leaving any slippery feel behind
  • Doesn't leave skin dry; this scrub works best on dry skin types
  • The fragrance is decent; sensitive noses will not be affected.
  • Contains natural substances like walnut, wheatgerm and aloevera
  • You need only a small quantity for whole face and neck; hence the product lasts long
  • Price is reasonable for the worth

CONS
  • I expected some floral/fruity fragrance from this scrub (Greedy me :P I know)
  • Not suitable for usage in extra oily skin types. Though it doesn't make face greasy soon after usage, your T Zone will be filled with oiliness 2-3 hours after this scrub usage in case if you have extra oily skin.

Rating: 4/5

Recommendation: This scrub suits all skin types expect the super oily skin. Definitely get one if you are dry skinned! Anyone can use this scrub for better exfoliation and soft skin expect the super oily girls. This scrub leaves skin soft, glowing and moisturized without leaving it dry.

Would I Repurchase?: Yes. I am actually planning to repurchase it on winter so that it can prevent dryness from my skin after scrubbing unlike the other scrubs.

VLCC Natural Sciences Gold Scrub Review

Guest Post by Yendrilla

Hi Guys I’m Yendrilla, a part time blogger from India. This is my first post on MABH and I am up with a review of a scrub today. First I should tell you I love to experiment with products like scrubs and face washes. I had been looking for a scrub which will add radiance to my skin and I ended up buying this VLCC Natural Sciences Gold Scrub.

Product Description:
Exposure to environment factors like pollution and dust make skin look dull
and lifeless. This unique scrub, enriched with 24 Carat Pure Gold, Turmeric and Sandalwood, has a
deep pore cleansing action that gently exfoliates dead skin cells, superficial white and black-heads. It
leaves the skin fresh and glowing with a radiant complexion.

Price & Quantity:
Rs.135 for 70 gm

Key Ingredients:
The face wash has mentioned the key ingredients as “Extracts of Alovera,
Sandalwood, Raisin, Turmeric, Gold Leaf, Xantham Gum, Dimethicone, Triclosan and Vitamin E”.

My Experience with this Product:
This product is packed in a golden coloured tube with a flip type cap which makes it hygienic for usage. No complaints about the packaging; it is pretty okay.

The scrub is gel based, yellowish in color and almost transparent with some yellow micro granules and small gold particles in it. It has a mild fragrance which is really soothing.

It is very gentle on skin. I am using it for the past 2 weeks and my blackheads have almost gone. It provides a deep pore cleansing action that gently exfoliates dead skin cells. Though I didn’t find much radiance effect in my skin as the product claims. Okay, now let sum up with the pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Comes in a hygienic and travel friendly packaging.
  • The consistency of this scrub looks attractive due to the small gold particles.
  • This granules are very mild so that even sensitive skin types can use it.
  • I did experience no side effects with this scrub as its formulation is very gentle on skin.
  • Though mild and gentle, it does a deep pore cleansing action effectively.
  • It clears blackheads very well. All my blackheads were almost disappeared within 2 weeks of usage.
  • The price is that not costly.

Cons:
  • I did not find much radiance as expected.

My Rating: 3.5/5

Recommendation: I think this scrub will suit all skin types except the extra dry ones. After using it, my skin got a little dry and hence I think it will do best on oily skin. However, if you want to clear your blackheads, then you can give this product a try.

Would I repurchase?:  I guess NO. I didn’t like this scrub that much. There are many more scrubs in the market with better results, at much cheaper cost. Right?

Homemade Facial Kit with Kitchen Ingredients

Facial is one of the most important skin care regime. Facial massage treatment helps blood circulation, skin elasticity, reducing age wrinkles and increase skin glow. It also retains the moisture in the skin. Facial massage is the best method to get rid of black heads and white heads.

There are so many facial kits in the market. Many kits perform well and are very efficient on the skin. Yet, there is something more efficient and worth believing in its performance on the skin. All the items from your very own kitchen shelf make into a great facial kit.

I usually follow the kitchen shelf items facial massage routine. My Facial Kit comprises of

  •         Milk
  •         Milk cream
  •         Crushed almond powder
  •         Tomato juice
  •         Few drops of honey

Done. These items are readily available at any point of time in any body’s kitchen.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Cleanse & Massage

Milk forms an excellent skin cleanser. Massage a spoon of milk on to your face for about 2 minutes and wipe it off with a wet cotton or tissue. Milk cream forms a great massage cream. The hydration it provides to the skin is excellent. I take a coin size of amount of the milk cream to massage my facial and neck. (Yes, do not forget to massage your neck as well.) Massage for about 10 minutes. [Editors Note: This process provides hydration to the skin and also cleanses the dirt, makeup residues and dust effectively]

Step 2: Scrub

My scrub is the almond powder. It is a perfect scrub granule for the skin. It is not harsh on the skin. Since it is mild scrub, scrubbing can be carried on even up to 10 minutes. But lazy, I do the scrubbing only for 5 minutes.

Step 3:  Steam

After the scrubbing I give a hot steam treatment for my face and neck. I use a vaporizer for this method. A thick towel dipped into hot water and drained can also be used for this treatment.

Step 4: Facial Pack Treatment

A pack on the face will complete the facial treatment. I usually prefer a thin layer of the face pack on my face and neck. So, I use 3 spoons of tomato juice, 3 drops of honey and quarter spoon of almond powder. If you need a thick paste, reduce the amount of tomato juice and increase the amount of almond powder. Apply evenly on face and neck and wash after the pack dries.

There….. You have saved lots of your hard earned money.

Editor's Note: That's a fabulous post Chand. I am surely trying this facial soon.
